I took a couple of pairs of shoes to Pendergrass not really knowing what to expect, because I've never had any shoes repaired before. One pair was some nice dress shoes on which the sole had separated from the rest of the shoe. The other was an old pair of leather shoes that I had purchased for $20 many years ago but that my wife really, really likes. They were in complete disrepair, with holes in the rubber sole and insides completely torn apart.

I dropped them off last Thursday and was told that they would be ready by Saturday. Being somewhat embarrassed by the appearance of the shoes, I babbled and explained that I wanted the second pair fixed because my wife really liked them.

I left and wondered two things: 1) Will the shoes come out actually wearable? 2) How much will this cost me?

I believed that my shoes would be restored, because these folks just looked like they knew what they were doing in there. Honestly, I didn't really care how much it was going to cost, because I really like both pairs of shoes.

I really wish that I had taken some "before" photos. Too late.

Yesterday I picked up the shoes. They are wonderful. Better than new. It's like buying brand new shoes that are already broken in.

Total price for the repair: a bit over $50. A good deal, if you ask me.

The best part: I explained to the girl at the desk how the repair probably was going to cost me more than the original price that I had paid for the shoes, and she replied to me that it would be worth it, though, because my wife really liked them.

She remembered. That's a "wow" experience. I love those.
